Carjacked Oakland Man Gets Vehicle Back

The carjacking in Emeryville left the man and his wife, living on social security, with no vehicle.

Emeryville, CA - Police assisted a North Oakland man and his wife get their car back after a carjacking last week in Emeryville.

The carjacking occurred at about 10 a.m. July 4 at the Pak N Save where a suspect threatened the man with scissors, punched him in the face and pushed him to the ground.

The car was later found abandoned on a freeway. Police had the car towed for evidence, and when it was ready to be released, the victim he told officers could not pay the nearly $1,000 towing fee.

Police got in touch with tow company officials who decided to waive the fees for the victim, who is living with his wife on only social security.

The victim was grateful. He and his wife, who have been married for 47 years, were using public transportation while their car was being processed.
