Diesel, A Bookstore in Oakland welcomes contributing authors Faith Adiele, E.B. Boyd, Christina Ammon, and Erin Byrne to the store to celebrate The Best Women’s Travel Writing Volume 10 on Thursday, November 20th at 6:30pm. Series editor Lavinia Spaulding will host.
From Travelers’ Tales comes the tenth collection in the annual bestselling, award-winning series that invites readers to ride shotgun alongside intrepid female nomads as they travel the globe to discover new places, new people, and new facets of themselves. The stories in this edition are as diverse as the destinations, linked only by the common thread of fresh, compelling storytelling that will either make you wish you were there or be very glad you weren’t.
Faith Adiele has been a Buddhist nun, community activist, diversity trainer and petty bureaucrat. She is the author of the award-winning travel memoir, Meeting Faith: The Thai Forest Journals of a Black Buddhist Nun. She is a member of the San Francisco Writers’ Grotto and lives in Oakland. Currently she chairs the Writing and Literature Program at the California College of the Arts.

Journalist E.B. Boyd is a contributor to Fast Company and the former president of the Society of Professional Journalists - Northern California. Her reporting has taken her to the Middle East, China, and Haiti. She started embedding with the military in Afghanistan in 2011 and is currently working on a project about the end of the war there.
Christina Ammon has penned stories for Orion Magazine, Hemispheres, The San Francisco Chronicle and numerous travel anthologies, including the 2014 Best Women’s Travel Writing and The Irresponsible Traveler: Tales of Scrapes and Narrow Escapes. She co-teaches a travel writing workshop at Shakespeare & Company in Paris. When not traveling, Christina lives in Ruch, OR where she writes, sips wine and paraglides (although not at the same time!).

Erin Byrne writes travel essays, poetry, fiction and screenplays. Her work has won numerous awards and appears in a variety of publications including World Hum, Vestoj, Burning the Midnight Oil and Best Travel Writing anthologies. She is the writer of The Storykeeper, an award-winning film about occupied Paris. Erin is currently working on Wings from Victory, a collection of her travel stories about France, and Vignettes & Postcards from Morocco.
Lavinia Spaulding is the series editor of The Best Women’s Travel Writing and author of two books:Writing Away: A Creative Guide to Awakening the Journal-Writing Traveler; and With a Measure of Grace, the Story and Recipes of a Small Town Restaurant. Her writing has appeared in many print and online publications, as well as in tattered, coffee-stained journals around the world. She live in San Francisco, where she’s a resident of the Writer’s Grotto and co-founder of the award-winning, monthly, travel reading series Weekday Wanderlust.
