Firefighter Suffers Burns, 6 Displaced By Duplex Fire
The fire was reported shortly before 4:30 a.m.

OAKLAND, CA — A one-alarm fire in an East Oakland duplex injured a firefighter and displaced six people, according to a fire battalion chief.
The fire was reported burning in a two-story building in the 5200 block of International Boulevard at 4:23 a.m., Oakland Fire Battalion Chief Dino Torres said.
Crews found heavy fire conditions as they made their way upstairs.

One of them suffered minor burns to the back when embers somehow ended up getting under the jacket firefighters wear for protection. It was unclear exactly how that happened, however.
"He could have just been in an awkward position," Torres said.
