Gang Member Wearing Ankle Bracelet Burglarizes Oakland Hills Homes
A plea bargain will send him to prison for more than a decade.

OAKLAND, CA — A reputed high-level gang member with six prior felony convictions pleaded no contest today to one count of first-degree residential burglary in an agreement with prosecutors that calls for him to serve 14 years in state prison.
Patrice Davis, 22, who committed the burglary while he was wearing an ankle monitor and was being tracked by Oakland police, entered his plea at a brief hearing in Alameda County Superior Court that was attended by his mother.
In exchange for Davis' plea to the single count of burglary, prosecutors agreed to dismiss four other burglary counts as well as an unlawful driving or taking of a vehicle count.

Davis's probation officer placed an ankle monitor on him last Aug. 4 because Oakland police officers suspected he was committing residential burglaries and were tracking him, Oakland police Officer My Nguyen wrote in a probable cause statement.
Even though Davis was wearing an ankle monitor, he was charged with carrying out four burglaries and stealing a car in August. The count to which Davis pled was for a burglary at a residence in
the 5100 block of McDonnell Avenue in the Oakland hills on Aug. 16.
Officer Blake Stephens wrote in court papers that Davis and two juveniles entered the house while they were being watched by another officer and committed a burglary, although he didn't disclose what items were taken.

Authorities said Davis and the two juveniles were driving a BMW that had been stolen from a residence in the 2600 block of Mountain Boulevard in the Oakland hills the previous day.
An Apple desktop computer also was taken from the Mountain Boulevard home, Nguyen said.
Davis was charged in connection with the Mountain Boulevard burglary as well as with a burglary in the 6800 block of Chambers Drive in the Oakland hills on Aug. 15.
The victim reported that among the items that were stolen were two glass jars containing coins and jewelry, according to Nguyen.

Later that day, undercover officers tracked Davis to MSM Jewelry - Cash for Gold, where he and two other men sold items to the shop which were in pillow cases, Nguyen wrote.
After Davis and his accomplices left the shop, officers located the items he had just sold and the victim identified several jewelry items that belonged to him, Nguyen said.
Davis' ankle monitor placed him at the location and time of all the burglaries, according to police.
Authorities said they believe Davis is a high-ranking member of the Money Team Gang, which is based in East Oakland.

Davis' prior convictions are for first-degree residential burglary, being an accessory after the fact in a home-invasion robbery, carrying a concealed firearm in a car, receiving stolen property, evading an
officer and the unlawful driving or taking of a vehicle.
Davis is scheduled to be sentenced by Judge Jon Rolefson on May 5.
