How to Recycle Your Christmas Tree

Waste Management will pick up trees the weeks of Dec. 31 and Jan. 7.

Recycling your natural, unflocked Christmas tree is simple — just place it curbside on your garbage collection day, according to Waste Management of Alameda County. Ornaments, tinsel, lights, stands and similar tree accouterments should be removed.

If the tree is six feet tall or more, you must cut it in half.

Trees will be picked up the weeks of Dec. 31-Jan. 4 and Jan. 7-11.

If you have a flocked tree, call Waste Management's customer service line at (510) 613-8710 for information.

Reminder: If your normal garbage collection day is Tuesday or later, service will be delayed by one day this week and next (no service on Christmas Day and New Year's Day). Normal Friday collections will be on Saturday. The regular collection schedule resumes the week of Jan. 7, 2013.
