International Travel Up 61% At Oakland Airport

"OAK is on the rise" with 52 consecutive months of passenger traffic gains, officials said.

OAKLAND, CA – Oakland International Airport has seen international traffic jump by 61 percent since March of last year, with overall travelers increasing by 6 percent.

Airport officials said several new domestic and international offerings have invited more people to use its services. March 2016 saw 1.01 million travelers, while this March saw 1.07 million.

Over 13 million travelers visit the airport each year, according to the airport.

"There's no doubt that OAK is on the rise, as evidenced by the now 52 consecutive months of passenger traffic gains," airport director Bryant Francis said in a statement.

There are 60 nonstop destinations and 14 different airlines that takeoff from Oakland International Airport.

Airport officials say traffic will only increase with March launches of nonstop Paris service, daily year-round New York/Newark service, daily nonstop service to Dallas/Fort Worth and service to Crescent City.
