Literary Karaoke Night at Diesel, A Bookstore in Oakland

Diesel, A Bookstore in Oakland invites you to the store for Literary Karaoke Night on Saturday, October 25th at 7:30pm.

It’s back! We’ve had so much fun at our previous Literary Karaoke Nights that *gasp* we’re doing it again.

We’ve all enjoyed (or endured, depending on your perspective) musical karaoke. Warbling, heart-felt renditions of “I Will Always Love You” and hand-held “Islands in the Stream” duets – all fueled by a bit of enthusiasm, encouragement and . . . well, more often than not, alcohol. Literary Karaoke is not so different, minus the warbling. We’ll bring the microphone and I bet we can even find a few books lying around if you bring your voices. The steps are simple. Bring something from home or grab a book off one of our shelves, read one or two pages from it, and perhaps just as important . . . listen to everybody else do the same. All we ask is that it not be something you wrote. There are plenty of places to do that. We’re a little different at Diesel, so you’d expect us to do things a bit differently too. (Translated: there just might be a bottle of something strong and distilled, should you need some liquid courage or your voice a smoky rasp.
