Man Injured in Oakland Fire

He was transported to Highland Hospital for treatment of his injuries.

OAKLAND, CA - A man suffered burns on his shoulder after a car caught on fire at an Oakland apartment building Sunday evening, an Oakland Fire Department official said.

Fire crews responded at 6:17 p.m. to a report of a fire at a carport at a three-story apartment building in the 800 block of Adams Street, Oakland Battalion Chief Zoraida Diaz said. Diaz said fire crews arrived to find the man outside of the car in the driveway adjacent to the building. He was transported to Highland Hospital, but Diaz said she didn't know how severely he was burned.

Firefighters were able to contain the fire to the carport, extinguishing the blaze within roughly 10 minutes, Diaz said.
