Necklace Ripped From Woman's Neck On BART

The suspect was arrested following the crime in Oakland.

OAKLAND, CA — A 19-year-old Oakland man was arrested on Monday after he allegedly stole a woman's necklace on a Daly City-bound train that was stopped at the Fruitvale station by ripping it off her neck, according to BART police.

Police arrested Alan Salneron at the Lake Merritt station on suspicion of strong-armed robbery after receiving the call about the theft at 3:42 p.m. Salneron attempted to flee on foot when police boarded the train at
Lake Merritt, according to police, but was taken into custody after a short foot pursuit.

The victim was able to identify Salneron as the suspect and got her necklace back, police said.

Salneron has been booked into the Glenn Dyer Detention Facility.
