
OAKLAND, CA — Drivers who fraudulently use disabled placards in Oakland could find themselves cited and slapped with a $513 fine as enforcement ramps up, according to city officials.
A crackdown on drivers who use disabled placards that belong to someone else or are fake or expired has resumed in the city, according to the Oakland Department of Transportation.
Sting operations will involve random audits of disabled person placards and people who use placards fraudulently will be cited, according to the department. The fine for misuse or abuse of a placard is $513, city
officials said.

The department will conduct the enforcement action across the city, concentrating on commercial district areas where, officials say, such fraud most often occurs.
