Oakland Firefighters Douse House Fire

The first report said it was a fire in a dryer.

OAKLAND, CA —A one-alarm fire at a home in East Oakland Thursday was extinguished within 15 minutes, a fire dispatcher said.

The fire in the 5700 block of Harmon Avenue was called in at 11:58 a.m. and was initially reported as a dryer fire, the dispatcher said.

Firefighters responded and saw heavy smoke coming from the home, but had the blaze extinguished at 12:13 p.m., according to the dispatcher.
