Oakland Man Identified As Shooting Victim
The man was gunned down Sunday. He was just one victim of a bloody weekend of violence.

A man killed in a shooting in East Oakland on Sunday was identified by police today as 30-year-old Ira Wright Jr. of Oakland. Wright was one of two people fatally shot over the weekend in Oakland, while four others were wounded by gunfire.
Police found Wright suffering a gunshot wound at 7:52 p.m. in the 2700 block of 76th Avenue, a few blocks from the Eastmont Town Center. Despite lifesaving measures, he was pronounced dead there, police said.
Police have not yet released the name of another man shot and killed at about 11 p.m. Friday in the 3200 block of East 16th Street.

Three suspects fled the area and two were detained for questioning, but police have not announced any arrests.
Another shooting happened in West Oakland just after 10 p.m. Saturday. After responding to reports of gunfire in the 800 block of Campbell Street, police found a man in his late 20s who had been injured. He was taken to a hospital in stable condition.

On Sunday, more gunfire was reported at 11:50 a.m. in the 1100 block of 71st Avenue. Two people were wounded there and taken to a hospital in stable condition, according to police.
Shortly after Wright was shot Sunday, another shooting was reported in the 1200 block of 30th Street at about 8:30 p.m. A woman in her late 50s or early 60s was wounded there and taken to a hospital in stable condition.
