Oakland Marijuana Building Catches Fire

The one-alarm fire was reported at 4:45 p.m. at 44th Avenue and San Leandro Street.

OAKLAND, CA -- A fire damaged an East Oakland building this evening where marijuana was growing, a fire official said. The one-alarm fire was reported at 4:45 p.m. at 44th Avenue and San Leandro Street, Battalion Chief Dino Torres said.

No one was injured. Torres said about 50 marijuana plants were inside the building.

The cause is under investigation but fire officials think it was electrical.
