Oakland Phone Scam, Police Warn

Police say they will never call someone and ask for money.

OAKLAND, CA — Someone is calling people claiming to be from the Oakland Police Department's youth services division and asking for money. It's a scam, police said Friday.

The caller is calling from (510) 238-3641 claiming to be an Oakland police officer and asking for money to remove the recipient from a call list.

Police said this is a scam and police will not ever call someone and ask for money.
