Oakland Police Officer Injured In Struggle With Suspect
The officer suffered significant injuries in the attack by the suspect.

OAKLAND, CA — A police officer suffered significant injuries this morning in a violent confrontation with a driver who had allegedly just crashed into a house near the Oakland zoo.
A solo-crash was reported around 6:10 a.m. in the 9900 block of Golf Links Road.
Police said the driver was headed south at high speed when the vehicle left the roadway, traveled up a driveway and went airborne before hitting a garage and a retaining wall.

The vehicle ultimately came to rest in the back yard of a home in the 3600 block of Dorisa Avenue.
The driver allegedly walked away, but was found by first responders at the corner of Golf Links Road and Calafia Avenue.

The driver allegedly began to attack them with a backboard commonly used to treat spinal injuries. Backup was called to the scene and they eventually handcuffed the driver.
The injured officer and the driver were both transported to a hospital. The driver was placed under arrest.
