OPD Officer Arrested

The arrest is not related to a sexual misconduct scandal involving a teenage girl.

OAKLAND, CA — An Oakland police officer has been arrested on suspicion of obstruction of justice and prostitution-related offenses, police said today. The Oakland Police Department said the officer, whose name was not released, was arrested on Wednesday "after a thorough criminal investigation."

The department didn't provide specific information about the officer's alleged wrongdoing but said it's unrelated to a sexual misconduct scandal involving a teenage girl who allegedly had encounters with numerous officers from Oakland and many other local law enforcement agencies.

The Police Department said the Alameda County District Attorney's Office will review the case to consider charges against the officer after the department's criminal investigation has been completed.
