Pancake Breakfast Nov. 10 Benefits Oakland Tech Athletics Programs

The Oakland Tech Sports Booster Club invites you to the First Annual Pancake Breakfast, on Saturday, Nov. 10, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Oakland Technical High School cafeteria, 4351 Broadway, Oakland.

This event will be an opportunity for the community to support Tech’s growing athletic programs, connect with members of the Tech community, experience the Bulldog spirit, and enjoy some great food.  

The Sports Booster Club has scheduled this and other fundraising events to supplement the dwindling financial support the school's sports programs receive from the Oakland Athletic League (OAL). Financial support from the OAL and OUSD for extracurricular programs such as athletics is at an all-time low.   Funding is in doubt for basic items such as uniforms, equipment, tournament fees and facilities  maintenance.  

Despite the funding cutbacks, Oakland Tech’s athletic programs are thriving and, in fact, growing. In the 2011-12 academic year, nearly 500 of Oakland Tech’s 1,800 students participated in at least one sport. Over the last few years, Oakland Tech has added boys’ and girls’ lacrosse clubs, boys volleyball, a coed ice hockey club and JV teams in both boys’ and girls’ soccer to its slate of sports.

Tickets for the Pancake Breakfast are $10 for youth (18 and under) and $15 for adults if purchased in advance. The day of the event, tickets will be $15 for youth and $20 for adults. You may also purchase a Sponsor Table for eight people for $150, which includes wait service, a decorated table with gift centerpiece, beverages, a fruit and bread basket at the table, Oakland Tech spirit items and raffle tickets.
