Pedestrian Killed in Oakland Identified

Oakland, CA - The Alameda County coroner's bureau has identified a pedestrian hit and killed by an SUV Tuesday morning in West Oakland as 69-year-old Oakland woman Qun Zhong.

The collision occurred in the 3500 block of San Pablo Avenue near Interstate Highway 580 sometime before officers were dispatched at 11:53 a.m.

Zhong was attempting to cross the roadway mid-block when the southbound Chevrolet Tahoe was unable to stop and struck her, police said.

Zhong was taken to a hospital where she was pronounced dead.

The driver and a passenger of the Chevrolet were uninjured, according to police. Alcohol does not appear to have played a part in the collision.
