OAKLAND, CA — An Alameda County sheriff's deputy was slashed with a knife by a suspect at the Eastmont Town Center in Oakland on Tuesday morning, sheriff's officials said.
The deputy was coming in to work at the county Social Services office at the mall around 8 a.m. but a male suspect was blocking the entrance, the sheriff's office wrote on Twitter.
When the deputy asked the man to move, he instead slashed him across his hand with a knife and then fled, according to the sheriff's office.
