Shooting Near Oakland City Hall Leaves 1 Dead

Another person was injured in the shooting Monday night.

OAKLAND, CA — A 40-year-old Bay Point man was killed and a second victim was injured in a shooting in downtown Oakland on Monday night, according to police.

The shooting was reported at 10:04 p.m. in the 1400 block of Jefferson Street, just a block west of City Hall, police said.

Officers responded and found the 40-year-old victim, who was pronounced dead at the scene. The second victim flagged down officers in the 1200 block of Broadway and was taken to a hospital, according to police.

An update on his condition was not immediately available today.

No arrests had been made in the case as of this morning and no suspect information has been released.
