Sprouts & Shutters: New, Large Coffee Shop to Open in the Temescal Area

Blue Bottle Coffee plans to open its second cafe in Oakland later this year, on Broadway.

The owner of a small coffee shop that's done well in Oakland has plans to open a second, larger cafe in the Temescal area.

James Freeman told Inside Scoop SF that he has signed a lease to open a Blue Bottle Coffee in the old W.C. Morse building at 42nd and Broadway.

Freeman said the 2,000-square-foot cafe will be larger than all his other West Coast coffee shops combined. He expects it to open later this year.

The cafe will offer the standard Blue Bottle fare of fresh coffee and food items such as waffles and toast, according to Inside Scoop SF.

Freeman told the website he decided to open another Oakland cafe because his small coffee shop on Webster Street has done so well.
