The Oakland Police officer was not injured and did not return fire.

OAKLAND, CA — A suspect remains at large after firing a shot at an Oakland police officer during a foot pursuit early this morning, police said.

Shortly after 3 a.m., a uniformed officer in a marked patrol car in the 2300 block of East 17th Street "attempted to detain a suspicious person," police said in an email this morning.

The male suspect fled and, during the foot pursuit, turned in the direction of the officer and discharged a firearm. The officer was not hit by the gunfire and did not discharge his own firearm, according to police.
