Teen Killed in Weekend Crash Identified

He was ejected from a Mustang when it hit another car.

A man killed when he was ejected from a Ford Mustang in East Oakland early Saturday morning was identified today as 19-year-old Christian Montez of Oakland, according to the Alameda County coroner’s bureau.

The Mustang’s driver, a 22-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving after slamming into a Nissan Altima at 12:38 a.m. and then trying to run from the crash scene at the corner of 106th Avenue and MacArthur Boulevard, according to police. Police officers in the area heard the crash and responded immediately.

The Mustang, heading north on 106th Avenue, had hit the Nissan as it was headed west on MacArthur, police said.

Montez was ejected from the Mustang in the crash and officers found him unresponsive nearby. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Mustang driver and another passenger ran from the crash scene but were quickly detained nearby. The driver was arrested and taken to Eden Medical Center in Castro Valley for treatment, police said. His name has not yet been released.

The Nissan driver, a 22-year-old Oakland woman, was also taken to a hospital for treatment, police said.
