Train Crashes Into Vehicle Stopped On Tracks In Emeryville
The driver escaped before an oncoming train crashed into the vehicle, setting it on fire, police said.
EMERYVILLE, CA — A vehicle that got stuck on the railroad tracks in Emeryville was impacted by a Union Pacific train and caught fire early Saturday, shutting down rail service for hours, police said.
Emergency services responded to the collision about 1:10 a.m. after the woman driver accidentally turned onto the tracks and became immobilized, police said.
The driver escaped before an oncoming train crashed into the vehicle, setting it on fire, police said.

No injuries were reported.
Union Pacific Railroad didn't immediately respond to an email requesting comment after regular business hours on Saturday.

"The railway was temporarily shut down for several hours to allow for emergency response, fire suppression, vehicle removal, and a full inspection of the tracks," police said.
