OAKLAND, CA — The Rockridge BART station was closed at 2:58 p.m. Monday after what BART had reported as a "major medical emergency." A person had been struck by an eastbound train.
Trains passed through the station in both directions without stopping for a few hours after the accident, BART spokeswoman Anna Duckworth said.
An Alameda County deputy coroner responded to the scene, according to BART. No details about why the person was on the track have been released.
