Visions for Vacancies: Former Poppy Fabric on Broadway

What would you like to see fill the vacancy at the former Poppy Fabric on Broadway?

This building was once Poppy Fabric but they closed in September 2007. It’s been sitting here vacant for almost six years. What would you like to see here?

This building is located at 5151 Broadway near 51st Street. It’s directly across the street from Rockridge Center.

I spoke with the owner of the new Poppy Fabric on Piedmont Avenue. She was actually an employee at this Poppy Fabric. She said the owner of the Broadway store just decided to close when the lease expired.  She opened the Piedmont Avenue store some time later.

I wasn’t able to get hold of the broker so I couldn’t find out why it’s been vacant for so long. The building does look like it needs a lot of remodeling. One problem I’ve seen many times is it can be difficult for the owner and tenant to come to an agreement on who pays for the remodeling costs.

What would you like to see here?  Perhaps this could be the hardware store that many have been asking for.
