A few weeks ago we talked about a space on Broadway and 40th. The same group is working on another project to improve Broadway just one block away at 41st Street. They would really love to hear from the community on what type of business you would like to see here.
This building is owned by Richard and Ben Weinstein of Citrine Advisors, an Oakland based commercial real estate company. They’re a community focused real estate company and believe what can improve Oakland isn’t as much about attracting national chains but more about building unique restaurants, bars and other businesses that will make Oakland unique and also draw people in.
Richard has been improving Oakland one building at a time since the 80’s. He and his wife started Café Valerian on Piedmont Avenue and he’s an active partner at Boot and Shoe Service on Grand Avenue and Pizzaiolo on Telegraph.
The previous tenant was Anderson Carpet & Linoleum but it appears they moved to West Oakland. True Burger and CrossFit are moving in and there’s one space remaining facing 41st Street. True Burger is expected to open in about five months.
Richard and Ben are very optimistic about this neighborhood. With Homeroom on 40th and Blue Bottle opening a few blocks away, they see very positive change happening here and would like to hear directly from the community so there’s a bit less guessing.
