ROHNERT PARK-COTATI, CA — Police arrested a man they said stood on a rooftop with a shotgun and aimed the weapon while shouting racial insults at workers in a nearby backyard.
Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety officers responded to a 911 report of an armed individual on a residential roof at about 8:44 a.m. on Saturday.
Officers said on social media that Tiwart Bachir Kyorkian stood on the roof, pointed a shotgun at the neighbors, and shouted profanities, including racial remarks.
Police took Kyorkian into custody without firing shots or reporting injuries.
However, authorities said he refused to comply with a Gun Violence Restraining Order issued by a Sonoma County Superior Court that required him to surrender all firearms.
Officers searched the man's home, then seized firearms and ammunition. After the search, they arrested the man for possessing what authorities called an assault weapon, as well as large-capacity ammunition and a short-barreled rifle.
Officers booked Kyorkian in the Sonoma County jail.
On April 1, detectives and the Sonoma County Explosive Ordnance Disposal team returned to the property to rule out threats. Investigators confirmed no explosive devices or bomb-making materials were found in the man's home.
Anyone with information should contact Sgt. Quinn at 707-584-2612.
