ROHNERT PARK-COTATI, CA — A countywide crackdown that swept through retail stores ended with arrests, ongoing investigations, and renewed warnings about organized theft rings operating across the region.
Stacks of merchandise, coordinated crews, and repeat theft suspects pushed Sonoma County law enforcement agencies into a coordinated enforcement operation.
More than half a dozen agencies fanned out across Sonoma County targeting organized retail theft operations including Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety, Sonoma County Sheriff's Office, Windsor Police Department, Santa Rosa Police Department, Petaluma Police Department, and the Sonoma County District Attorney’s Office — alongside "retail loss prevention teams."
The Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety, Sonoma County Sheriff's Office, Santa Rosa Police Department, and Windsor Police Department arrested five suspects.
Investigators focused on suspects accused of shoplifting, burglary, fraud, possession of stolen property, and conspiracy tied to organized theft crews that allegedly steal merchandise for resale through online marketplaces and illegal resale networks.
Authorities said organized retail theft continues to strain businesses across Sonoma County by driving financial losses, threatening employee safety, and increasing costs for consumers. Investigators said repeat theft crews often coordinate operations and funnel stolen goods into online resale markets and underground distribution channels.
Officials said the operation relied on intelligence-sharing, surveillance, and coordinated investigations between retailers, loss prevention officers, and multiple law enforcement agencies working to disrupt repeat theft activity and recover stolen merchandise.
For more information about the operation, contact Detective Sgt. Quinn with the Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety, Spokeswoman Emily Fuller with the Sonoma County Sheriff's Office, or Sgt. Patricia Seffens with the Santa Rosa Police Department.
