SONOMA COUNTY, CA — A fire believed to have started in a kitchen exhaust system caused an estimated $200,000 damage Friday night at the Carl's Jr. restaurant in Santa Rosa, fire officials said.
No one was injured in the blaze at 1000 Farmers Lane, which was reported about 9:54 p.m.
The restaurant's dining room was closed but the drive-through was open, the Fire Department said.
An ambulance in the area noticed flames coming from the roof and notified employees inside.
Firefighters located an active fire burning in the attic and concealed void spaces above the kitchen area.
The incident provided the operational introduction of the department's newly staffed Santa Rosa Heavy Rescue Company, which is trained and equipped for complex rescue operations. The fire was under investigation.
