ROHNERT PARK-COTATI, CA — Police arrested a 39-year-old Rohnert Park man hours after a shooting wounded a man outside a bar, then recovered a half-pound of cocaine and a loaded 9mm handgun during a search connected to the suspect, authorities said.
Santa Rosa police responded at about 12:49 a.m. Aug. 3 to the 500 block of Barham Avenue after receiving reports of a shooting, according to the Santa Rosa Police Department.
Officers found the wounded man running on Santa Rosa Avenue with a gunshot wound to his arm, police said. Officers applied a tourniquet and called for medical aid before an ambulance took him to a hospital.
Investigators said several people had been at a nearby bar before walking into the parking lot, where the victim was standing.
A confrontation followed, and one man pulled out a handgun and allegedly fired at the victim, striking him once, according to police.
Surveillance video of the shooting led detectives with the Santa Rosa Police Department's Gang Crimes Team to identify Edward Joseph Sciutto, 39, of Rohnert Park, as the suspected gunman, police said.
Detectives later spotted Sciutto driving south on Highway 101, according to police. Officers pulled him over and arrested him without incident.
Investigators later searched a home connected to Sciutto and found about a half-pound of cocaine and a loaded 9mm firearm, police said.
Police arrested Sciutto on suspicion of attempted murder, participating in a criminal street gang, a gang enhancement, being a felon in possession of a firearm, and possession of a controlled substance, according to Santa Rosa police.
