SANTA ROSA, CA — A 9-year-old boy crossing a street in Santa Rosa suffered serious injuries when a car struck him Tuesday night, police said.
Santa Rosa police say the child was taken to a regional trauma center to be treated for "significant" injuries suffered in the collision reported at 8:28 p.m. in the 900 block of Yulupa Avenue between a pedestrian and white Ford Mustang.
After receiving 911 calls at 8:28 p.m., Santa Rosa police responded to the scene and tested the Mustang driver, a 41-year-old Santa Rosa man, for alcohol and drug use.
As of Wednesday morning, investigators do not believe alcohol or drugs were factors in the collision and are still working to determine the vehicle's speed at the time of the collision.
Police said on Wednesday that though the investigation into the collision remains ongoing, the driver is currently not a suspect and has not been arrested.
