SANTA ROSA, CA — A 9-year-old boy suffered significant injuries after he was struck by a Ford Mustang while crossing a Santa Rosa street Tuesday night, police said.
The crash was reported around 8:28 p.m. on the 900 block of Yulupa Avenue, according to the Santa Rosa Police Department.
Investigators believed the boy was in a marked crosswalk when a white Ford Mustang traveling south on Yulupa Avenue struck him, police said.
The child was taken by ambulance to a regional trauma center.
The Mustang was driven by a 41-year-old Santa Rosa man who remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators, police said.
Alcohol and drugs were not believed to have played a role in the crash. Investigators were working to determine the Mustang's speed and whether the crosswalk lights were activated when the boy was struck.
The crash remained under investigation.
