ROHNERT PARK-COTATI, CA — Rohnert Park could name Ignacio Richard Navarro its new director of public safety Tuesday as the City Council takes up a slate of spending, appointments, agreements, and other city business.
The council will consider a proposed employment agreement between Navarro and the city. Human Resources Director Tracy Rankin will present the item.
The council will also consider spending up to $760,000 for eight new Public Safety replacement vehicles, including vehicle build-outs. The proposal would authorize the city manager to execute the purchase documents.
Another item would confirm the mayor's nomination of Jose Morales as Rohnert Park's representative on the Sonoma County Library Commission. Morales would receive a four-year term ending July 31, 2030.
The council will receive a progress report on the city's emergency Public Safety Antenna and Radio System Replacement Project and consider continuing the emergency action until the project is completed.
Councilmembers will also consider a $91,880 budget amendment for the Capital Pavement Overlay Project and associated transactions needed to provide the funding and close the 2007R Bond Fund.
Another proposal would approve a license agreement with Sonoma County Library for use of the Burton Avenue Recreation Center.
The council will also consider appointing a representative to the Russian River Watershed Association Board of Directors and authorizing the Public Works director to appoint an alternate.
Other consent items include annual reports covering Performing Arts Center ticket and rental fees, Community Services facility-use fee waivers and co-sponsorships, and the city's Alcoholic Beverage Service Ordinance.
Councilmembers will also consider authorizing the city manager to execute a lease with the Boys and Girls Club of Sonoma-Marin for city-owned property at 7450 Santa Barbara Drive.
The meeting also includes recognition of Public Works parks maintenance staff and the Rohnert Park Tennis Club for its investment in renovating Magnolia Park's tennis courts. Lastly, the mayor will proclaim Aug. 26, 2026, Women's Equality Day in Rohnert Park.
The meeting begins 5:30 p.m. at 130 Avram Ave., on Zoom, Cable Channel 27, and on the City's YouTube channel.
