SONOMA COUNTY, CA — Sonoma County will equip residents with flyers, signs, and raffle prizes to help them bring neighbors together during Meet Your Street weekend, October 2-4.
The countywide event aims to help neighbors connect and build stronger communities. Organizers hope residents will volunteer to host gatherings for the people who live nearby.
Hosts can pick up supply kits at the Department of Emergency Management, 2300 County Center Drive, Building B, in Santa Rosa.
The kits include easy-to-use flyer templates that require hosts to add only the event time and location. Hosts will also receive signs ready to post around their neighborhoods and raffle prizes to use as giveaways.
Residents can make their Meet Your Street events long or short, organize them as potlucks, invite guests to bring their own beverages, or create another format. Organizers encourage neighbors to participate in whatever way feels most comfortable.
A sign up form is online. Residents with questions or ideas can email Nancy.a.brown@sonomacounty.gov or call 707-396-4033.
