ROHNERT PARK-COTATI, CA — A mother who arrived to collect her son's dog and vehicle after his DUI arrest ended up under arrest herself, according to Cotati police.
The incident began Wednesday evening when a passerby flagged down an officer patrolling downtown to report a driver.
Police stopped the driver and, after a sobriety test, arrested him on suspicion of driving under the combined influence of alcohol and drugs.
At the man's request, officers called his mother to retrieve his dog and vehicle.
During the call, officers specifically asked whether she had been drinking. She said she had not, according to Cotati police.
When she arrived, officers suspected she might be intoxicated and tested her, as well. They subsequently arrested her for suspected DUI.
The mother's chemical test showed a blood alcohol content of 0.18 percent, police said.
Officers booked both mother and son into the Sonoma County jail.
