SANTA ROSA, CA — A family walking home from a neighborhood park with two young children was threatened at gunpoint in Santa Rosa, police said, leading to the arrest of two people and the recovery of a loaded, stolen gun.

The incident happened around 4:10 p.m. on Sunday when occupants of a gray Dodge pickup truck confronted the family of four in the area of West Avenue, according to the Santa Rosa Police Department.

The family told officers the driver yelled gang-related challenges and pointed a handgun at them, including the children, ages 2 and 8.

No one was physically injured.

Officers said they located the pickup truck parked on Clement Street, just west of Mendocino Avenue, police said.

Around 6:14 p.m., officers saw four men approach the truck. As officers moved in, the men split into pairs and walked in different directions. Three were detained without incident, while a fourth ran from an officer before tripping over a rock about 95 feet away and being detained, police said.

Police identified one man as Antonio Francisco Ramirez, 19, of Windsor. Officers found a loaded firearm concealed on him that was later determined to be stolen, police said.

Detectives with the department's Gang Crimes Team determined Ramirez was the suspect who pointed the gun at the family and yelled gang-related challenges, police said. Investigators also identified a 17-year-old Windsor resident as the passenger in the pickup at the time of the incident.

Ramirez was arrested and booked into the Sonoma County Main Adult Detention Facility on suspicion of assault with a firearm, brandishing a firearm, driving under the influence, carrying a concealed and loaded firearm, possessing stolen property, child endangerment, resisting or obstructing an officer, criminal street gang participation and a gang enhancement, among other charges.

The 17-year-old was arrested and booked into Juvenile Hall on suspicion of assault with a firearm, brandishing a firearm, criminal street gang participation and a gang enhancement.

Another man detained during the investigation, Adrian Liscano Ramos, 25, of Santa Rosa, was arrested for violating probation.

Police said he was not present during the original incident. The fourth man was determined not to have been involved and was released.

Police said the family's report helped officers quickly identify and locate the suspects.
