ROHNERT PARK, CA — A haunted maze, live dance performances and community altars will fill the Rohnert Park Community Center Complex during its Halloween Carnival with Día de los Muertos Celebration Saturday.
The event runs from noon to 5 p.m. at 5401 Snyder Lane. Admission and parking are free, though carnival games carry a small fee, according to the city.
Organized by Rohnert Park in partnership with Latino Alliance, the celebration will take place rain or shine, with activities moving indoors if necessary.
Entertainment includes Aztec and Ballet Folklorico performances and shows featuring Perry the Magician.
The haunted maze will alternate between a scarier experience with actors and a gentler version for younger children and families.
Latino Alliance will present Día de los Muertos altars, also known as ofrendas. A community altar will give visitors an opportunity to remember loved ones by contributing photos, flowers, letters or small keepsakes.
Other activities include arts and crafts, face painting, a juggler and a photo booth. A pumpkin walk will offer participants a chance to win a pumpkin.
Food and drinks will be available, along with a cash-only adult beverage booth hosted by the Education Foundation of Cotati & Rohnert Park.
