Updated: 4-Year-Old Girl Hit and Killed by Pickup Truck
A Rosemont girl was struck Thursday evening.

A 4-year-old girl was hit and killed by a pickup truck on Ashgrove Way Thursday evening, authorities say.
She was identified by the Sacramento County Coroner's Office as Kristina Kushnirchuk.
The accident occurred just before 7 p.m. as 49-year-old Alex Akopian was turning left from westbound Tallyho Drive onto southbound Ashgrove Way in a 2002 Dodge Ram pickup, according to a CHP press release. He stopped in the intersection to let a pedestrian walking a dog cross Ashgrove, then continued on.

According to the CHP press release, 4-year-old Kristina "suddenly" began to cross Ashgrove Way from the sidewalk, and was hit. Akopian stopped and administered first aid, but the girl later died at UC Davis Medical Center, the press release stated.
Neither alcohol nor drugs were a factor in the accident, the CHP said.

The truck was registered to an address on the street, so "presumably the driver is a neighbor," Sacramento County Sheriff's Department spokesman Dep. Jason Ramos said in an email.
The CHP is continuing to investigate the incident.
Update, 12:35 p.m.: Family members mourning at the Ashgrove Way home declined to comment Friday afternoon. A pot of colorful flowers had been set on the sidewalk outside their house.
