Day 4 - CCHS Coast 2 Coast II Plays in the End of Trails Tournament

Our day four of our Oregon mission trip, halfway through a wonderful trip.

Day four: We've arrived in Portland! Ready to play some basketball at the End of Trails Tourney. Our first game was at 9 a.m. (we left Salem at 6:45 a.m. after a hurried breakfast), and we played against Mac Elite. The game was a good one–intense at some points too! Our parents/fans have a saying, our "Cardiac Cougars," as sometimes these games makes their hearts race....or give them a heart-attack (in a rhetorical way). Our team lost the game against Mac Elite by two points, with a buzzer-winning shot.  It was great to see the team back on the court and working out their teamwork.

Our next game wasn't until 1 p.m. in Canby, Ore...So we found our way to a Subway for a lighter and healthier lunch for the team.  For this second game, we played Team Yes.  They were a strong team and ran a full press against us. We held strong, played hard and found strengths in our team.  We did not win against Team Yes and this loss results in us not having games on Sunday.

So with our newly found free time, we are going to look into another serving opportunity; however with the the cancelation of Albertina Kerr (their rep ran into some internal matters that results in us being unable to serve for them during this trip), we have already been searching for a similar community service group–to no avail.  But for those of you that know our Coach Baker, she can find opportunities anywhere - even if we are handing out food to the homeless here in Portland, we will find another way to help here!

After our second game, we headed back to Portland/Beaverton to our next hotel.  After our check-in, it's time to give the team a little down-time, shower-time, call-home time or just do-nothing time.  Oh and not to mention (our hotel has a washer/dryer area) doing some much needed laundry–you can only imagine how those uniforms are after four games in two days: stinky and dirty.

Our coach and chaperone's next project was to find a nice end of trip (aka: team bonding) activity for our Sunday....stay tuned for those results!

Tonight's dinner will be one from the show "Diners Drive-ins & Dives!" Our choice was the Skyline Restaurant–awesome burgers and shakes!!  One of our waiters (we took up five booths) gave one table a "coloring contest" and the winner would get a free ice cream cone....Congrats Sarah–we loved your rainbow people!

With our tummies all full, we headed back to the hotel to wrap up our evening with daily devotions and early to bed.  We have two more games Saturday–first game at 10:20 a.m.!

Again, we truly appreciate everyone for your support and prayers - we miss you all and will see you in two more days!
