Five Things I've Learned About Life and Business From my 15-Year-Old
Your kids can teach you about a lot of things, especially in business and life.
1. Slow and steady doesn’t always win the race.
Sometimes you just gotta get in there and be quick to grab the best deal or secure the hot opportunity.
What is your philosophy? Are you more “slow and steady” or “get in there quick”?
2. Work to live instead of living to work!
I don’t know very many people who make the kind of money my son makes and works as little as he does at the age of 15. He loves to PLAY! In fact, in the last week he has seen seven movies and has biked to the mall 10 miles away to see each of the movies.

How about you – do you work to LIVE or live to WORK?
3. You can outsource at any age!
In the last two years, Jacob really brought my skills in outsourcing to a whole new level. He has people he works with and outsources to all over the world. Most of them he has met via his YouTube channel. Jacob is the one who introduced me to outsourcing to people outside of the US. It is fabulous to be able to send work to someone in the evening when I go to bed and have it finished in the morning when I get up because of the time zone differential!

What kinds of things could you be delegating right now that would give you more time to live the life you dream of?
4. It doesn’t have to be perfect!
Yes, there are some things that you really want to be perfect in life, and there are others that just don’t have to be. Jacob is constantly reminding me that life is not about being perfect–it is about getting the job done well and creating time to do things that are fun. As I have learned to let go of reaching perfection in many areas of my life, I have created more time to spend with my family and do things I love.
Are there areas of your life or business where you are trying to be perfect? Would you consider letting go of some of those things if you could still attain the success you are striving for?
5. There comes a time when you don’t surprise yourself that you can do it!
When you are young or learning something new, you almost surprise yourself when what you are trying to accomplish actually works: you walk for the first time, ride your bike for the first time, schedule a successful auto-responder, edit a video, and on and on.
Just the other day Jacob said to me, “I am not surprised any more. Pretty much everything I try works.” (Isn’t that awesome!?!)
Know that it will be hard before it gets easier and that there will come a time when you don’t surprise yourself any longer that you can now do the things that you once thought were impossible.
What things have you mastered that were once hard?
