Fox 40 Awards $500 to Rosemont High School Students

A Rosemont student was a finalist in a local singing contest, winning $500 for the school.

A local television station, Fox 40, hosted the “Just Let Me Sing” contest in December of last year, where voices of students successfully made it among the top five finalists from different schools all over the Sacramento area.

The requirements for this contest were for teens to videotape their singing and upload the videos to the station’s website.

Throughout the whole district, RHS was the only school that was awarded not only the cash price of $500, but also an invitation to be featured in an episode. Mr. Betner, a music teacher, was invited by the station to be the representative of the school. He was among one of the teachers who promoted the contest to their students. The students themselves took the initiative to enter and upload their videos. Thus, the students remain unknown.

On the other hand, the prize money will be such a great help to purchase drum set for the music department.

Again, Rosemont High School, Fox 40, teachers, and fellow students proudly congratulate the honorable winners. This would not have been possible without the participation of the talented and brave students and the encouragement of the music department teachers.
