Hip Hop Music in Sacramento is Positive and Uplifting

A few little tidbits on some of the great hip hop music that Sacramento has to offer that not a lot of people know about.

Recently I went to a show in Sacramento (Wednesday from 10 p.m. - 1 a.m.) and enjoyed listening to music that I have heard as well as some that I have not.  The crowd was small for the venue (The Blue Lamp) but big for a Wednesday night in Sacramento's night life.

This night was for the CD release of a group called Lens Krafters and a solo CD release from an artist Max Bundles.  Both artists brought great energy to the stage,  performing tracks off each of their new albums.  People were buying drinks at the bar and there were a few lovely ladies dancing as well.

In these situations I love being the observer and just watching all the fun happen but I couldn't help but get into it when the touring group out of Portland, Ore. performed.

First was a man named Cloudy October who shined and had a very outspoken and cocky delivery that was perfect for his music.  After his set I had a small chat with him and he left it on the stage which was great...a very humble person who offered his album for free download online. (you can click on his name for the link)

Next to the stage was someone whose name has to be spelled in all caps, which I thought was a great idea, haha. IAME is his name and it stands for "I Am My Energy." His performance was also great with live drum sound from his MPC and DJing his own set–very, very cool.  A link to his music is also on his name if you would like to visit.

Last to the stage was a performer who I had heard of but never actually saw live prior to this. Onry Ozzborn of Greyskul with his guitarist/bassist Rob Castro.  This was the highlight of the night.  You know how you can tell when someone loves what they do and has practiced and practiced and practiced their butt off to get where they got?  Yeah, these guys do that and it comes out in their show. Controlling the stage with getting the sound just right for them to feel comfortable and then just giving us a treat with every song.  (a link to their album is also on their name)

Thanks so much to all the artists that performed that night and to my photographer who came out and took some great shots.  I will post them on here as soon as I get them but enjoy this video of that evening for now.
