Live Near a Park? Come to Rosemont 'Park Watch' Community Meeting

As you know, the Sacramento Sheriff’s Department continues to investigate the death of 13-year-old Jessica Funk-Haslam, whose body was found at Rosemont Community Park in March. This tragedy has triggered a new determination in residents to become even more proactive in the fight against crime.  Specifically, residents living near the parks can be extremely helpful to law enforcement and their neighbors by being the “eyes and ears” that help protect these vital areas of our community. 

Neighbors who live within eye-sight of any of the parks in Rosemont are invited to a special community neighborhood watch meeting on Thursday, May 17, 2012 from 7 – 9 p.m. at Atonement  Lutheran Church, located at 9242 Kiefer Blvd.

Members of the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department will be on hand to provide information about specialized strategies and how best to watch and listen for criminal activity, how to properly report suspicious activity, and how to help ensure that our parks remain safe and clean places in our community.  Residents living near the parts are encouraged to attend this meeting so they may be better equipped and effective in the fight against crime.  Come and share your concerns and ideas with your neighbors and law enforcement about the best way to help keep our parks safe.
