Rosemont to Host New Sheriff Youth Activities League Program
Rosemont has been selected by the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department as a pilot community for youth activities.

On Thursday, Jan. 12, Sgt. Mark Scott of the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department's (SSD) Youth Services Unit and Dep. Zach Hatch, Youth Activities League, met with representatives of the (RCA) and Rosemont Community Foundation (RCF); Garrett Kirkland, Principal of ; and Rosemont community volunteers to introduce a new youth program. Sgt. Scott explained that the Sheriff’s Impact Division, which was formed as a result of federal grant monies received by the sheriff's department in 2011, consists of three components:
- Gang Suppression Unit
- Intelligence Unit
- Intervention component with community involvement and outreach through the Youth Activities League
The third component will be the focus in Rosemont with a primary goal of establishing a strong collaboration between the sheriff's department, schools, faith-based organizations, businesses and the community to implement a youth program that will utilize educational, athletic and recreational activities to create trust between law enforcement and youth.
Rosemont businesses and residents will be essential to the success of the program and volunteers will be needed. If you are interested in being kept informed, please send an email to info@rosemontca.org.
