Capital Christian Baseball Crushes Dixon on the Road 10-0
The varsity baseball team defeated Dixon in an away game Thursday.
The Cougars easily beat Dixon High School on the road Thursday, putting up 10 runs in six innings to end the game early, while ace Ben Ritchey no-hit the Rams' lineup.
"Marysville and Capital Christian are the two teams to beat in this league, and we knew coming in today that we would be facing their No. 1 pitcher and today that kid pitched a great game," Dixon head coach Scott Winslow said. "Weβve got to play better defense. We did not hit the cutoff man, we made a lot of mistakes in communication in the infield, and obviously we could definitely work a lot more on our hitting."
Capital Christian struck early in this game, putting up two quick runs in the top of the first, but the Cougars would do most of their damage in the second inning where they scored four more runs, making it 6-0. Dixon struggled through the inning, making several errors in the field, and starting pitcher Angel Lara was finally replaced by Taylor Landis, who closed out the inning.

"We have a young team," Winslow said. "A lot of the really talented kids on this team are only juniors or sophomores, so they'll be around for awhile. We'll start working out the kinks in practice right away. There's always something to improve upon."
The Cougars would score three more runs in the fourth inning (two off wild pitches) before finally putting the nail in the coffin in the sixth inning, as another passed ball allowed Capital Christian to score the tenth run. Dixon would have a last at-bat to retaliate, but were unable to score any runs, putting the 10-run rule into effect and ending the game.
