Cougars Lose First Game of Baseball Series
Despite taking an early lead, the Capital Christian baseball team falls to Escalon, 10-3.

After jumping out to an early 1-0 lead against Escalon on Saturday, the Capital Christian Cougars seemed in control of their playoff gameΒ in Stockton.
It didn't last.
Errors and baserunning gaffes plagued the Cougars, who lost 10-3 to Escalon and fell behind 1-0 in the Sac-Joaquin Section Division V baseball semifinals.

Capital Christian committed five errors on Saturday, which kept the team from seriously challenging Escalon, said head coach Nelson Randolph.
βThe pitching wasnβt bad," said Randolph. Β "It was just that we couldnβt make the plays.β

The contest, held at Billy Hebert Field, was the first of a three-game playoff series with Escalon. Β The second game is this Wednesday at 4 p.m.
If Capital Christian wins, the third and deciding game will be later this week.
