County Extends 'Pet License Amnesty'
Late animal license fees will be waived until the end of the year.

A months-long program to waive late fees for lapsed animal licenses in Sacramento County has been extended to the end of the year, according to a press release.
The "pet license amnesty" program, , will save late renewers a $100 fee.
"This effort is part of the overall goal to increase licensing," the press release stated. "Sacramento County requires that all cats and dogs, over four months of age, be licensed."

Dave Dickinson, interim director of the , touted the benefits of licensing.
"Licensing provides real advantages for pet owners, including a free ride home for pets if they are found by an officer," Dickinson was quoted as saying.

Licensing fees in unincorporated parts of the county start at $15 for spayed or neutered animals and $150 for unaltered pets. Click here to view a PDF flier with the full list of rates.
Licensing is available online, at the Sacramento County Animal Shelter on Bradshaw Road, by mail, at participating veterinarians or at county service centers. More information is available on the county's website.
