Dad Admits to Smoking Meth Before Driving Son to School

A Rosemont resident was cited for public intoxication and child endangerment last week.

When 29-year-old Brandon Eaton dropped his 6-year-old son off at school on Thursday, some employees there noticed something strange.

They said Eaton was "barely able to walk and had slurred speech," according to a Sacramento County Sheriff's Department crime log.

After dropping his 6-year-old son off, Eaton drove home with his 4-year-old son in the car, employees told the department.

Deputies found Eaton at a nearby home on Canberra Drive, where he was unsteady on his feet and had slurred speech, the crime log states. Sheriff's department spokesman Dep. Jason Ramos said Eaton was cited for public intoxication and child endangerment.

"He admitted to having smoked methamphetamine the night before, but we were unable to get a DRE (drug recognition expert) to establish that he was under the influence of narcotics," Ramos said in an email. "Because he exhibited objective physical signs of intoxication, though, he was booked for public intoxication and misdemeanor child endangerment. He was cited out of jail with a date to appear in court."

The older son told deputies that Eaton hit a parked car on the way to school, according to the crime log. The two children were placed into protective custody.

Drug arrest made on Folsom Boulevard

A 28-year-old man was arrested Monday after deputies found methamphetamine in his car, according to the crime log.

Willie McCallie was stopped in the 9500 block of Folsom Boulevard for driving with objects hanging from his rear view mirror, the department said. He allegedly did not have a driver's license, and consented to having his car searched.

Deputies found two bags of meth in McCallie's car and two on him, the crime log states.

He was arrested, but posted a $5,000 bond Tuesday and was released.
