How to Watch the Manlove Freeway Overcrossing Demolition Saturday

The old pedestrian overcrossing just north of Rosemont will be destroyed Saturday night.

Caltrans is knocking down the old bicycle and pedestrian overcrossing at Manlove Road and Highway 50 this weekend, and doesn't mind if the public watches.

During the work, Highway 50 will be closed in both directions between Watt Avenue and Bradshaw Road from 11 p.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Sunday.

For those who want a closer look at the action, Caltrans spokesman Dennis Keaton suggests watching the demolition from the new pedestrian overcrossing, which was finished about a month ago.

"Our estimation is that is where a lot of folks are going to try to view the demolition," Keaton said.
